UPPCB Signs MoU with IIT Kanpur to Strengthen Recruitment Process

Lucknow : In a major step toward strengthening environmental governance and improving organizational efficiency, the Uttar Pradesh Pollution Control Board (UPPCB) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kanpur. The agreement aims to ensure smooth operations and effective implementation by bolstering the Board’s human resource base.

Under this MoU, IIT Kanpur will assist in conducting the recruitment process for Class-II officers, including Assistant Environmental Engineers and Assistant Scientific Officers. This collaboration is expected to streamline the long-pending recruitment procedure and fill key vacancies within the next four to six months.

Currently, the UPPCB plans to recruit approximately 45 Class-II officers, comprising 28 Assistant Environmental Engineers and 17 Assistant Scientific Officers.

The MoU signing ceremony was chaired by Dr. R.P. Singh, Chairman of the UPPCB, and took place at the Board’s headquarters in Lucknow. The agreement was formally signed by Sanjeev Kumar Singh, Member Secretary, UPPCB, and Vishwaranjan, Registrar, IIT Kanpur.

Officials stated that this partnership will not only expedite recruitment but also bring greater transparency and efficiency to the process, ultimately contributing to the state’s mission of strengthening pollution control mechanisms and fostering sustainable environmental management.
